ATVs meet the definition of "automobile" set out in the SK Insurance Act. They are treated like golf carts in that they are exempted from registration under the SK Traffic Safety Act. Nonetheless, pursuant to s. 14 of the SK ATV Act, an ATV cannot be operated on any part of a highway under there is "…a subsisting contract of automobile insurance within the meaning of Part VI of the…[SK Insurance Act]…". A minimum liability policy of $200,000.00, is required.As with golf carts and snowmobiles, personal injury benefits under the AAIA are not provided unless the ATV is involved in an accident with a moving motor vehicle.
